Kennedy Kimber-Johnson is a Canadian composer, organist, and pianist based in London, Ontario. She writes music for both media and concerts, with a focus on emotionally resonant, narrative-driven work.
She earned her Bachelor of Music in Honours Composition from Western University in 2018, studying with Peter Paul Koprowski and Paul Frehner. After completing a Graduate Performance Diploma at McGill University in 2019, she returned to Western to finish her Master of Music in Composition in 2021 with Omar Daniel. Her thesis, Waves of Lament, is a five-movement solo organ cycle inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kennedy’s compositional work spans film, animation, video games, and choral music. She’s worked with students at the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology on animated shorts and earned a full scholarship from the Game Audio Network Guild to attend the NYU Video Game Scoring Workshop, learning from pros like Tom Salta. This helped shape her work on games like Unblock Gridlock, Cherry Pit, Live Wire, and Buffer Overflow, which won Best Audio at LoJam X GDS 2025.
In 2025, she composed the original score for Appendage, a short film made for the 48 Hour Film Project, directed by Dave Thorpe and written by Amanda McNeice.
Kennedy also performs regularly and is passionate about highlighting female composers and bringing organ music to new audiences. She’s played in cities across Canada, including London, Toronto, Waterloo, and Montreal.
